Cupping, also known as negative pressure or vacutherapy, uses suction cups to expand and separate muscle fibers. Cupping can range from deeply relaxing to intense depending on the amount of suction applied. I often find that very tight muscles respond well to gentle cupping quickly delivering blood and oxygen to tissue without painful pressure.
By creating suction and vacuum pressure, cupping is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. It wakes the body up and makes it feel invigorated, at the same time producing a profound level of healing through nervous system sedation.
